On the morning of Tuesday, October 22, 2013, approximately 150 guests gathered in Caspary Auditorium for the Women & Science initiative’s fall breakfast program. The event featured leading cardiologist Holly S. Andersen, M.D., Director of Education and Outreach for the Ronald O. Perelman Heart Institute at New York-Presbyterian Hospital and Rockefeller University trustee. Dr. Andersen delivered a fascinating lecture entitled, Affairs of the Heart: Gender Differences in Heart Disease and Stroke, in which she elucidated the gender-specific risk factors for cardiovascular disease and the various preventative measures that women can take. The talk was hosted by the University’s vice president for medical affairs and physician-in-chief of The Rockefeller University Hospital, Barry S. Coller, M.D.
