Over 100 guests attended the Spring Women & Science Program—Regarding the Resilient Genome: How Cells Block Cancer and Age Gracefully—held at The Rockefeller University on March 10, 2011. The lecture featured Agata Smogorzewska, M.D., Ph.D., a Rockefeller alumna who was recently appointed as Assistant Professor in the University’s Laboratory of Genome Maintenance. After opening the lecture with a description of the connection between different types of cell aging and the development of cancer, she then explained how her own recent findings are shedding light onto possible new treatment pathways. A spirited exchange followed.
