A diverse group of students, faculty and University friends gathered for the 2011 Beatrice Renfield Lectureship in Research Nursing—Diabetes and Heart Disease: Mentoring the Next Generation of Nurse-Scientists—held at The Rockefeller University on March 31, 2011. Drawing on her decades of experience, the speaker, Deborah A. Chyun, Ph.D., R.N., F.A.H.A., F.A.A.N., highlighted the challenges posed by the rising epidemic of diabetes and heart disease and pointed to how a new generation of “nurse-scientists” might take a leading role in curbing this concerning trend.
